  • The buyer agrees that all batteries must be used for recycling materials only
  • Batteries must not be re-furbished or re-sold as serviceable units
  • If needed, purpose built containers for the transportation of the batteries are available from DND for loan to the Buyer
    • There are 8 purpose built containers available
      • each container holds 4 batteries
      • each container fits on a regular size pallet
    • These containers, if used by the buyer must be returned in the same condition as they were taken to DND upon completion of removal at the cost of the buyer
    • Wooden wedges should be used to limit battery movement within the purpose built containers
      • 128 wooden wedges would be required
    • If the same truck is used continually for transport, these containers can be left strapped in place for the duration of the removal
  • If the purchaser chooses a different method of packaging batteries it is the responsibility of the purchaser for proper banding of batteries to a pallet for transportation
  • Purchaser must abide by all transportation laws and regulations relating to the movement of batteries
    • Purchaser must adhere to all transportation of dangerous goods requirements
      • The batteries should be treated as waste, Class 8, for the acid still in them, during transport. This will require a manifest for each trip
    • Purchaser is required to provide and pay for all documentation/manifest pertaining to Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Driver of transportation vehicle will be required to remain with the vehicle at all times and will be escorted daily by assigned security personnel

Pick-up

  4. Onsite staff cannot pack, load, mail or ship items.
  5. Pick-up only by Buyer or authorized third party.
    • All pickups by a third party require a signed Authority to Release to be sent to the "Contact" listed in the sale prior to releasing. If sending a Transport Company a completed Bill of Lading is also required to be sent to the "Contact".
  6. Contactless Pick-up:
    • Confirm with the "Contact" listed on the sale for site specific COVID 19 protocols before arriving.
    • Appointments to pick up are mandatory, no exceptions.
  7. Buyers without appointments will be turned away.
  8. Buyer is responsible for making their own arrangements for packaging, loading and removal of the items from their physical location.
  9. All pallets and containers are the property of the Department of National Defense and will be returned to the Department upon completion pick up by the Purchaser at the Purchasers cost.
  10. Normal working hours are 0900 to 1200 and 1300 to 1500, Monday to Friday.
  11. The purchaser shall comply with all standards set out in the Act on Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and any other provincial and/or federal regulation for handling, packaging and shipping the materials above and assumes all liability for damage, injury or death. The buyer understands that no action or claim may be brought by anyone against Canada, PSPC (and GCSurplus client department) or their designated representative having custody of the property for any loss or damages of any kind arising from the use of GCSurplus or the possession, ownership, transport or use of property purchased from GCSurplus.

Payment and Removal
Payment:
The Purchaser agrees to make any payment requested (see available payment options) by the Minister within 3 business days from the date of such request and prior to removal of any of the property.
 
Removal:
The Purchaser, upon acceptance of this offer by the Minister and after payment in full has been received by the Minister, shall at their expense, pack, load and remove the property by the date indicated on the bill of sale or, if no date is shown, within 3 business days after the date the bill of sale is issued.

The item(s) described herein are being sold offsite and not from a GCSurplus Sales Centre. For all offsite sales, Canada is responsible for making the sale items accessible for removal. They are under no obligation to provide assistance of any kind. It is the Purchaser's responsibility to ensure they have the proper labour and material handling equipment to facilitate the removal. Failure to comply with this condition of sale may lead to the Purchaser being turned away and the items and funds being forfeited.
