Description :

Drive Logs

  • The sunken wood from the drive was removed from the bottom of a lake as part of an ecological restoration project in the summer of 2022.
  • The wood is still damp.
  • The log driving period in this area spans over 130 years.
  • Several logs are still in very good condition, but others have deteriorated more from soaking.
  • The wood lot is not divisible.
  • The length of the logs varies from 3 to 16 feet. The average length of the shorter logs is 4 feet and the average length of the longer logs is 14 feet.
  • The volume of wood is estimated at 8 cords of 4 feet, close to 4 cords of 12 to 14 feet logs, but the buyer is invited to evaluate the volume of wood himself with photos provided or by visiting in person. There are also 4 beams between 10 and 16 feet and 12 logs between 8 and 12 feet.
  • The drive logs must be picked up by the buyer before June 1, 2023.
  • The site is accessible by the Mauricie National Park Road, then by a gravel access road.
  • The wood is in a large parking lot closed to the public.
  • No cutting is allowed on the site.

  • The purchaser must be completely self-sufficient in loading and transporting the wood: no machinery or labour is provided by Parks Canada.
  • It is the responsibility of the purchaser to obtain the necessary information and visit the site with a Parks Canada employee to ensure that they have the proper equipment to load and transport the wood.
